The San Diego Children's Coalition has joined forces with Children's Day USA and various local Kiwanis and Lions Children's Clubs to create public awareness in the County of San Diego about the effort to establish an official Children's Day in California centered around a 2008 California Senate Resolution declaring the last Saturday in April as Children's Day. 

Next year, the last Saturday is April 30th, 2011!   There's Mother's Day in May, Father's Day in June, and now there's Children's Day in April!  We have so many holidays we celebrate, but we should never forget to honor our children and those outstanding individuals and organizations who give so much in service.

To create public awareness, the Children's Coalition is launching an annual "Children's Day Celebration" that will run next year from April 15th to 30th, 2011, promoting all participating Children's organizations and their events within the Celebration dates, with the concluding event at Kidsfest at Liberty Station in Point Loma.  The Children's Coalition will also highlight promotional specials from our business partners during the Celebration!

The phrase "Pick a Day, Choose a Charity, Support the Event!" will be the theme of the Celebration.

Children's Charities & Organizations.  All Children's charities and organizations are encouraged to participate in the Celebration.  The Children's Coalition will help promote Children's events that occurs within the Celebration dates and assist in recruiting any volunteers needed.  If your organization doesn't have an activity, please consider planning one.  To participate, please email us your event details and any volunteer needs.  Once your event is approved by our staff, we will add it our Children's Events page.

Business & Donor Partners.  To assist in the promotion of Children's Day and the Children's Day Celebration, printed posters and postcard-size flyers will be distributed throughout the County of San Diego.  The Coalition will seek business and donor partners to assist with the Celebration and promotional materials.

Volunteer Opportunities.  If you have a good heart and love to get involved, the San Diego Children's Coalition is a great home for you.  The Coalition has the intent of truely changing the face of San Diego County to help Children's organizations in the service of Children.  Please come join us in this worthy cause and be a party of history!
